Meditation #1
Jesus, Prophet of Prophets
April 29, 2002

Jesus knew much more than what some scholars give Him credit. When Albert Schweitzer read about Jesus sending the Twelve to preach the Gospel, he thought Jesus did not expect them to return before He came in His Kingdom. Many limit Jesus' knowledge to the generation in which He lived. Such a view, called Preterism, sees Endtime prophecy fulfilled in the first century. However, those who see Jesus coming at "any moment" fail to read the difference between general and specific signs (Meditation #4). Jesus will come for the Elect "after the great tribulation."

These views overlook that Jesus spoke, from the beginning, of those who will be "saved after enduring to the End of the Age." Matt.10:21-23. Jesus was thinking of Endtime Saints by saying in Mark 9:1 that "some of THOSE standing here will not taste death, by any means (double negative), until they see the Kingdom of God AFTER it has come with power." The Scripture in Matt.16:27,28 agrees with Rev.12:10,11 and Dan.12:10,11 where the time of suffering is limited to the Endtime of 1260 days when Jesus is "about to come in glory to reward every believer."

Jews began to reject Jesus when He claimed Moses wrote of Him as the coming Prophet. Jesus told them to search the Scriptures. The second rule of Bible Study requires us to compare Scripture with Scripture. The first is to consider the Context. Jesus pointed the Emmaus disciples to Scriptures about Himself as the Prophet and Redeemer of Israel whom they expected. Luke 24:25-27.

Jesus also spoke of Himself as the Son of Man, adopting the term used by Daniel of what occurs at the Endtime of 3½ years until He comes in glory with all the Saints. Daniel 7 refers to these Saints more times than any Bible chapter. But only of the Endtime period that ends with the Son of Man coming with the Saints in glory to give the Kingdom to the "people of the Saints." Dan.7:27.

We must compare TEXT with TEXT. "Overcomers to the End" will suffer under the Beast for 3½ years. Rev.2:25-27; Rev.13:5-7. Here we see that Dan.7:22-27 and Rev.12:10-14 describe the same period as Matt.16:27,28; Mark 8:38; Mark 9:1.

*** "Some," not many, "of those standing here"

*** (there) will taste death during the final

*** three days before Christ comes in glory!!

Jesus allows that HERE (in this Endtime context), many will survive to the Lastday. Only "SOME" will be killed during the last three days until the Two Prophets rise up to share the evidence against the wicked in the Court of Heaven. The mandate of Matt.16:28; Mark 9:1 climaxes a Mission Statement about His death, resurrection, building His Church, and our bearing the cross to prove we are worthy of Him. Worthy until He "brings His rewards with Him in glory." Matt.16:27; Rev.22:12.

Paul says we are to be "blameless before God our Father at Jesus’ Presence with all the Saints" on that Day. All believers are "caught up to meet Him. Overcomers to the End will sit on thrones to reign with Him on earth. Martyrs will "sit on thrones and serve God day and night in heaven's Temple for 1000 years." Rev.3:12; Rev.7:15; Rev.20:4,5.

That's the subject of I Thess.3:13; I Thess.4:15,16; Rev.3:12; Rev.2:25-27; Rev.5:10; Rev.7:15-17; Rev.20:4,5! John's motif is that of preparing Endtime Saints "standing here" (there) after Michael expels Satan from heaven for the Endtime conflict between Satan's two Beasts and God's Two Prophets.

"Chronos-time ends in the days when Trump 7 is about to sound ... because God's wrath has come." Rev.10:6,7; Rev.11:18. The Lastday is the Day Trump Seven sounds. Hades's Gates (not Hell's Gates; Matt.16:17) will, by no means, prevail against the Church. Hell receives its first two occupants on that Day. The Beast and False Prophet will suffer alone in Hell for 1000 years.  Rev.19:20; Rev.20:10.  Mel
